Upton Sinclair explained how the meat packing factories would store meat. Upton Sinclair stated, There would be meat stored in great piles in rooms; and the water from leaky roofs would drip over it, and thousands of discloses would race on it. He said that th e packers would try to poison the rat with bread and then the meat, dead rats, and the poison bread would go into the hoppers together. Then they would sell it like regular clean meat. They would subjoin chemicals so they could preserve it. The chemicals they added were borax and they would color the meat with gelatin.

The work hours for workers were big and hard because they didnt get a lot of breaks and they would lay down to stand until they finish.
