The method: the child is watched playing for 20 minutes while caregivers and oddishs enter and appropriate the room. The child is exposed to the flowing situations:
1. set up and child are introduced to the experimental room.
2. Parent and child are alone. Child explores the experimental room
3. Stranger enters and interacts with parent, then approaches the child, the Parent then leaves.

5. First reunion: Parent greets and comforts child, then leaves again.
6. Second disengagement: the child is alone with stranger again.
7. Second reunion: Parent enters, greets and comforts child, stranger leaves.
Four aspects of the childs behavior are observed:
1. The amount of exploration (e.g. playing with new toys) the child engages in throughout.
2. The childs reactions to when the caregiver leaves.
3.
The stranger anxiety (when the baby is alone with the stranger).
4. The childs reunion behavior with its caregiver.
Findings: when parent and child are together nonetheless when the stranger is in the room the child is calm and plays with the toys. When the stranger leaves the child seems to be in distress however it is substantially comforted by its caregiver when they return.
